David McDougall is an award-winning journalist, producer and director with over ten years of experience in news, investigations and documentary.
David has worked as a producer and director for the Emmy-winning weekly newsmagazine series VICE on HBO, covering a wide range of stories in the U.S., Middle East, Africa and Asia. He also directed and produced a five-part, Canadian Screen Award-winning documentary series with VICE founder Suroosh Alvi, examining the rise of modern jihad.
At the CBC, David created a new national radio program called Live Through This, and developed and produced a new investigative podcast series called Uncover: The Village, which debuted near the top of the American iTunes Charts in 2019. His CBC reporting from the front lines of the war in Syria earned him an Amnesty International Media Award. He regularly worked on assignment for The Globe and Mail's foreign desk, covering stories in Africa and the Middle East. His work and reporting has also appeared on NPR, BBC, ABC, CTV, TVO and The Independent, to name a few.
David is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
